I remember... 9/11/01
I remember it was early in the morning i was just out of high school 18 years old and was in california by myself, my bro was out of town on business and my family was in south texas, i get a call pretty early, unusually early from my mom so i felt something might have happened... i answer the phone and i can tell that something was wrong by listening to my moms voice, she says are you ok? i said yes of course whats wrong? then she tells me to turn on the TV and put on the news, i get up and walk over to the living room and see whats happening and see the second plane hit the tower and i ask her whats going on, and she said "mijo (son) we have been attacked." then i asked what do i do, and she told me to pray for all the people being affected by this, after we said a prayer together and got off the phone i was sitting there all day watching history and knowing i will never forget that day ever.
what do you all remember on 9/11/01?
what do you all remember on 9/11/01?
I was working at a company called Epsilon.. Walked into the office and it was EMPTY.. Looked at the clock on my computer and it was well after starting time, so went to the break room and everyone was in there just starring quietly at the TV. By then the first tower was already smoking.. I just remember the billows of smoke coming out of the building... No one was saying anything.. Everyone was just confused and mouths open starring..
Then the unexpected happened.. We all heard the sound first as CNN was covering the smoking tower live.. We heard the sound of the 2nd plane approaching off screen, then we saw it hit the 2nd tower.. Women just started screaming, "Nooooooooo.. Whhhyyyyyyyy?!?!" Some people had to leave the break room because they couldn't take anymore..
Then the unthinkable happened.. One of the buildings started coming down as if it were wet paper being crumpled in someone's hands.. I started thinking of the unimaginable force that it must have taken for all of that to have given way that fast.. Because it was reduced to a pile of dust and rubble in a matter of seconds..
I remember seeing the cameras close in on people that were in the buildings waving pieces of paper, clothing or whatever to show that they needed help.. Then I remember seeing people willing to do whatever it took to escape the flames and smoke.. You all have seen the graphic illustrations..
It's all still so vivid to me, I can't believe it's been 10 yrs.. I'll NEVER forget.
God bless the families of ALL that were lost that day, and for any reason surrounding those events.. The service men, the civil servants, the workers, the soldiers that went to protect our freedoms after that.. EVERYONE!!!

I was home on leave (military's version of vacation) for my 21 birthday. I had gone out with some friends the night prior and had plenty of alcohol. I got back to my mothers house from the night of partying, she woke me up when the first plane hit the first tower. I came down stairs to see the smoke and fire coming from the first tower. I thought I was dreaming when I saw the smoke and fire and as soon as I heard the distinct sound of a jet engine and then I saw the second plane hit tower two. That's when I knew I wasn't dreaming. I call my boss to check in with him, the next day I was back on camp Pendleton in California. Two months later I was in Afghanistan. Then I went to iraq for the initial invasion in 2003. I have been to Afghanistan one time and Iraq three times, I have an American flag that has been flown over both Afghanistan and Iraq every time I have gone there. It is up in my garage next to my Marine corps. flag. Sorry about the extra info past where I was on 09/11/01, I felt it was important.

I was in college then. My radio was set to 97.9 the beat to wake me up to some music. But, I was woken up by the news and at first I was confused as to why they have news playing on 97.9. As I was listening to it, the 2nd tower as hit and I still was confused as I was half asleep.
I ran to the living room and turned on the tv and it was on on all stations.
As I have always followed news in India and US, India has seen its fair share of terrorist attacks for many years before 9/11 and India had been warning US of the dangers of Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan and Pakistan and had been asking US to take action on it, but not a lot of attention was given. Unfortunately, US had to learn the dangers of extremists the hard way.
