Transmission Out! Any local recommendations!!

Hi, I have a 2004 auto (5AT) with 103K miles on it. I have full bolt-ons at this point, and according to the vehicle history, the transmission and diff fluid flushes have been done every 25K. So it really sucks that I've now been told by Sewell that my tranny is out...It was slipping badly so I took it in.

I cannot afford to pay dealership prices; would any of you know any good transmission shops. I wanted to get a supercharger next year, so I want to upgrade the drivetrain. One shop told me they could most likely repair the parts that are bad (torque converter, gear shift, clutch) with OEM parts for about $900. They also said we could use performance parts for a much sturdier and quick shifting trans for about $1300. Does this make any sense?
They warranty their work for 3 years, the dealership with it's $4600 price-tag will only warranty a year...

Which shop would you all recommend?
Do any of you know a shop that will swap mine for a 6MT? Will this cost a lot more? And if I stick with the 5AT, what brands can I upgrade to over OEM? Of course, I'd get the Transgo Valve Body Upgrade at this point as well...

Please help!! I am desperate!

Anyone recommend Lonestar Transmissions Arlington, they are the ones who gave me the $1300 quote for performance parts (but did not specify what brands)?

Thanks!

You the dude with the TITAN? Small world...

Im sorry but Im going to be honest...I would NOT boost a 103K miles car... However, if you insist - why even ask about going with OEM / 1 yr vs aftermarket / 3 yr warranty..? if anything breaks - take it back to the shop..

Auto to Manual swap - $$$$$$$ (unless you source all the parts yourself)

you can find your tranny for less than a grand.. Install it yourself (i know you can too since you did your Titan headers)..

Save yourself some $$$ dude.. And if you want boost STILL - better have a decent savings acct..

No, I'm not the guy with a Titan...wish I did have that ride!

If it's not a good idea to boost with my mileage, I'll wait until I get an engine swap. I don't want to get rid of this car, it's a long story, but I want to work on this car for a very long time...

Dealership job costs $4000 + and comes with a 12k or 12 month warranty. It wouldn't make any sense going to them if I can get a better quality transmission for $1500 with a 3 year warranty...
There are shops that will warranty their work, even if I replace the engine and get boost it. But I don't know who is truly reliable... I don't have 4k for the dealership...

Thanks, should I be looking under "Clutch" components? Sorry....

I really don't have the know-how or the tools to do this job by myself...I will need a shop or a mechanic to help. And if I am buying this for $800, would I have to sacrifice the upgraded bits (torque converter, gear shift, more efficient clutch)? If I have to pay someone about $200-$300 to help with this, doesn't it make more sense to fork out the extra $300 and get the performance upgrades, along with a 3 year shop warranty?

Anyone have recommendations on shops? I'm guessing our sponsors Z-Racing, etc, are super expensive... (?)

No, they haven't sent me the list of the performance Brands as yet. I was wondering if people here had any recommendations for the 5AT. The Transgo Valve body upgrade is the only one I know of....

Looks like some of the names I'm coming across are:

1) Stillen, Edge Racing, and B&M for torque converter
2) ALTO Red Eagle Kit, for Direct Drum and Input Drum along with Kolene Steel Plates
3) B&M for Upgraded Transmission cooler
4) Transgo for Valve Body Upgrade

and...
