2002 SMG II. Its been a blast!! Words can't express it.

The M is just so solidly built, and when u need to tap into the power, just brutal.
I'm a little surprised, cos I had an S4 before. The S4 has a hell of a kick due to the twins down low, but around 5-6k, begins to gasp for air. The M just keeps pulling all the way to the 7900rpm redline. In fact, thats when the engine just sounds its best.

As I told the others at the meet, I was in intense negotiations with Mark at Grubbs the last 2 weeks, trying to spec out the kit. It was down to 2 choices (1) Turbonetics ST or (2) Vortech. With the cash I was planning to put down, I had to make absolutely sure that that was the route that I was going to take. So I felt it was very neccessary that I check the market for Ms. In the end, I spent less on the getting the M than I would have getting the G modded the way I wanted (7-8k).

When it comes to these type of decisions, I consider them a risk as well as a financial assessment issue. Modding a car the way I was going to mod, IMHO, one had to completely ignore the financial value issue, because modding the car so invasively basically tanks the residual value. Other unknowns were out there... (1) reliability and to me, the issue that the G is not basically designed from the factory to take that type of power and torque long term. Getting a M3 instead of modding gets me (1) the performance without having to mod (2) its my dream car and (3) gets me a car that depreciates very slowly. Don't get me wrong, the G is a great car, but the M, after having it a few days, makes me realize why people are nuts over it.

The M3 has long been a car on my hit list. After having an S4, I was used to a certain level of speed, hence I was considering modding the G. When I looked at the G, most Ms I found were in the high 40s. Well I got a killer deal on this one and decided to eat the small negative equity and get the car of my dreams.

I hope that you guys don't consider me a turncoat lol. I enjoy the meets and would probably turn up at them just to hang out.
