Slower track times with a reset?
Slower track times with a reset?
Well, right before I made my first run I reset the computer. The whole day, I absolutely could not get within 1.5 seconds of my quickest run from a year ago. Nothing's changed other than this time I had a 1/4 tank of gas compared to a full tank when I ran last year. The temperature was within a few degrees as well as the humidity. So with those facts, I was really expecting at least a 9.35 in the 1/8.
How long does the car take to start running normal? I thought that the car would run quicker after a computer reset.
I have to add, though, that my times did start to improve a tenth at a time.

Post your prior best timeslip and your new slower time slip, increment by increment.
BTW, contrary popular belief, the reset will make you slower, not quicker. A reset results in an overly rich a/f. Over numerous starts, the a/f will be leaned out. It wouldn't surprise me if an ecu reset would net in a .1-.2 second slower ET.
My error, thanks for correcting me Dave. I totally meant 1.5 TENTHS of a second slower. I also meant that my times improved a hundreth at a time. Thanks, though, for clarifying that an ECU reset will result in slower times - I was getting frustrated. (It's weird because the throttle seems more responsive after a reset.) On the upside, my reaction times are improving.
My best 1/8 mile this time last year:
9.45@75.10 w/a 2.18 60'
Yesterday:
1st run - 9.62@74.39 w/a 2.27 60'
2nd run - 9.73@74.15 w/a 2.35 60' (this run was without a preload)
3rd run - 9.62@74.01 w/a 2.24 60'
4th run - 9.61@74.13 w/a 2.24 60'
5th run - 9.60@74.13 w/a 2.22 60'
I would dare say that considering that I had a 1/4 tank of gas this time around as opposed to a full tank, a reset would slow times by .1 - .3 seconds.
