finally did it, broke the 14.7 berrier at LACR

When i dynoed my car about 2 months ago and they said it was running dangerously lean i started looking for the cause. Well I started with fuel injector treatment and then took out the JWT intake and changed the spark plugs with 36,xxx on the car. My previous best with spare tire and tools removed was
60 time 2.237
14.788 @ 94.496,

Yesterday (Friday) i had couple of runs trapping 96mph! With 2.3x 60 foot time but i was doing 14.8s. I knew i had to launch better. So i decided to go into that wet spot and warm my Eagle F1s up. I did a 5 second burnout and did 14.689 @ 95.184mph with 2.237 60 times and spare tire and such inside the car. It was nice to see finally my mods working together.

I have catback true dual custom, z-tube and kinetix plenum.

^well that is not possible at that track with street tires. it is about 3000ft above see level and the pavement is very dusty all the time. When u shift to 4rth the tires actually chirp.

So I see you removed the Stillen intake and ran a faster time. How is the driveability and the power with the stock airbox? BTW, congrats on the new best.

I don't even wanna talk about yesterdays trip to LACR

Talk about a HORRIBLE 60 ft.

Im planning on going soon again, after my next oil change (to synthetic) this tuesday, with a couple of friends.

I wanna bring that 60ft to a decent 2.2-2.3 [atleast for LACR standards].

Im not sure how other tracks work, but the reaction time does not matter at LACR. Once the sensors actually detect you move, is when the count starts.

So, your opponent might beat you, but you still had the better time.

Power wise i did not notice anything but the car was running smoother. It was the JWT intake not the stillen one.

Yesterday was a horrible day for u dude. Getting not less than 2.6 60ft is bad. I think ur tires were too low. Good luck in the future.

I hope so.

Next time ill make sure to check my tire pressure. Im sure 25 psi is way too low; I don't know how it affected me though.

I atleast have a good feel for the track. So next time, my times are hopefully MUCH better.

I guess ill find out very soon.

Dave u were dead on about the yanking off the JWT intake and putting the stock airbox with K&N drop in. Today i was on my way to work and there is a pretty steep hill on the highway which i usually put it into 5th to go up going about 70mph, otherwise i have to press the gas pedal more than a 1/4 for it to hold the speed. Today i went on the same hill again at 97 degree weather (yes today was 97 degrees in valley). Well i cruised all the way up with pressing the gas less than 1/5th and the car did not have any problem doing that on 6th gear. At the end of the hill i realized i was in 6th gear! If i had the JWT intake the car would just choke and die (not really ) at 97 degrees going up that hill.

Yeah, this doesn't surprise me at all. When doing my various experiments with the stock airbox, I noticed much the same thing when switching between the stock airbox and an airbox that was fully open (no Power Duct, no over radiator snorkel). Part throttle response was pretty dismal, especially went going up grade and passing a very moderate speed.

I've never really contended that you'll be quicker with stock airbox, but I think you'll get the best driveability and most consistent performance. It doesn't sound as sexy and doesn't offer that immediate throttle response above 5000rpms though.

Nice time for LACR Klubbheads, do you have the stock power duct in place? I would be interested in seeing how your car performs on back to back runs with the duct in place than taken off. I didn't have any performance difference just the wide open throttle banshee sound with the duct off.
