G35 drag sections lacks threads

I think we need to see more threads started in the g35 drag section. I know that everyone is going to say if you wanted to drag then you should have bought a 350z but for the sake of not always saying "oh your 350z is lighter then my g35 thats why you won" or "oh I have back seats thats why you beat me"....lets see some more threads started. For one I have yet to race a 6mt 350z on the drag strip that could out launch me back when I was bone stock. The only 350zs I've lost to are auto 07 350zs. So how about us G35 guys hit the drag strip and start putting down times that are close or better then 350zs. And don't tell me your cars weighs 200pounds more then a 350z because I know a single turbo g35 with 355whp that puts down 12.2 and doesn't run skinnies in the front or slicks. So far the record is 11.6@129 on g35driver.com but i did watch a vid where a g35 did 11.5@119 on stock internals. So for 2008 lets get more g35s in the low 12s and lets start seeing some more 11s.

Well, for one it's winter and for most us, the tracks close in November and don't reopen until March or April. Secondly, most G35 owners are clueless to drag racing or don't care about drag racing. And third, a G35 will never post times like a 350Z because of the following reasons:

1) The Z is lighter and it does make a big difference. On average, the Z is about 200lbs lighter which is good for about .3 seconds and 1.5mph.

2) The Z has a 6" shorter wheel base which allows it to obtain much better 60 foots. Additionally, the driver, the spare, and fuel all are located above, behind, and just in front of the rear tires. These cars will out 60 foot a G quite easily. That alone is worth about .15 seconds in ET alone.

SO, right off the bat, the Z should have about a .4 second advantage which is pretty significant seeing that dropping your ET .4 seconds with NA mods is pretty damn expensive.

Now, if a G owner wants bragging rights and is willing to risk an $200 axle and his clutch doing it, slicks are the key. A bonestock 6MT on 26" slicks should be able to land an easy 1.8 60 foot. That should easily put the car in the 13.5 second range. Throw in the bolt-ons that are actually worth a damn (spacer, ECU flash, TPs, true dual exhaust), some stellar conditions, 98 octane fuel mix, and yanked passenger seat and spare, you should be looking at 13.1-13.2s@105mph.

I agree on the fact that not enough G drivers are into drag racing. But, its nothing of a shocker there.

As far as the G35 vs 350Z, assuming auto for auto, or MT for MT (and non-VQ35HR's), it's always been a driver's race for me. I've beaten many 350Z's at the drag strip, and vice versa. It all comes down to who has more experience. Usually, when I do meet up with a good Z driver, when I was stock, I usually lost by 0.2-0.3 seconds and trapped 1 mph less.

I need to get some new numbers to enlighten the Drag section... You do, too, Felix!

Unfortunately, my car only ran a 12.50 @ 113mph about 2 weeks ago in weather that was 20 degrees cooler than when I ran my 12.25 @ 116mph.

In the spring I am hoping for some low 12s. I just installed a twin plate clutch and hopefully a Haltech(with more boost) and drag radials will be coming soon.

There really are quite a lot of threads in the drag section. Change the amount of time that you are viewing posts for and you will see quite a lot of information in that section.

Soon....Traction is going to be an issue...I'm not going to throw on different tires until I break 120 trap on stock tires.
When I was bone stock I practical lived at the drag strip. Wed and Fri 6-10 every week. Thats 32 hours a month. All because didn't want to start modding until I maxed out stock form.
