can the 03 sedan automatic beat a golf GTI?

just wondering, in my old regal i used to get smoked by those ugly hatchbacks all the time, just wondering if it would be an even race now or not really? i guess it also depends if they have upgrades

yeah those little cars come with like 3 different motor options. 1.8turbo,2.0, and vr6(v6). so depending on the model. also, those german cars really benefit from simple mods like chips and exhaust. they are very restricted from the factory

I just re-read the "automatic" part .... auto + track = fail

not stock GTI can out perform a 03 sedan. The r32 is still considered a golf and thats the only thing that can do damage. the fastest anything has recorded in a magazine is like 14.9 on the new 2.0T FSI engine. i think an R32 in MKiV form pulled something in 14.0 -14.5 which should be in the area of a 03 sedan if not faster.

since you didn't give us anything to go with, i'm using magazine numbers. 1.8T even with a couple of mods will still have trouble.

I used to own a 2005 VW GTI 1.8T and by no means was it as quick as my G35 was stock vs. stock. The GTI stayed stock for a short time though and with stock turbo I was able to get it down to 13.4@103mph. After that I replaced the turbo and ran a 12.9@115mph with 348whp and then went to 425whp but the only time I took it to the track the transmission blew up so I never found out what it was capable of.

I resent the UGLY comment though....I thought she was very pretty...

For a golf, that thing is bad ***.

I am waiting to see more of the Passat CCs on the road and hopefully modded, they are a truly a great looking car.

Who cares. I've never really looked at a G35 as a race car. It's more of a luxury sedan to cruise around with in style.
