For those of you that are close to stock, are you holding 3rd gear as you cross the line or grabbing 4th at the last second? I've dragged this car once and I'm pretty sure I was rowing to 4th right at the last photocell. Most posts on here claim that the factory tach is fibbing by +300 to 400RPM. If that's true, I'm almost thinking I could hold 3rd and cross the line with the tach showing 7300 or so. I realize answers to this question will vary depending on trap speed but I'm still curious what the consensus is.

 

i don't think stock 7100 rpm limiter will allow you to go over 90mph in 3rd. So 4rth gear is a must........

 

4th gear is absolutely required. I don't have the gears plotted right in front of me, so I'm going off of memory here, but I'm pretty sure that given a 7200rpm fuel cut and a tire size of 26.3 inches, 3rd runs out at ~92mph.

So, theoretically, you could hang on to 3rd all the way till the end if you were racing at like 2500ft.

 

Definitely need to shift to 4th gear.

 

i cant even make it thru 1/8th mile traps in 3rd gear.

 

I'm going to 5th by the end LOL.
