How to get rid of axle hop

I went to the 1/8 mile track with my friends ('09 Altima 3.5S & '09 MS3) and we were doing some passes. I tried various launch RPMs, from 2500-3500, but always got axle hop. My best time of the night was 9.7 @ 74 mph (only had the car for a week).

Anyway, what's the best way to get rid of all the axle hop that I get through all of 1st gear? Slowly let off the clutch, or just let off the gas a little?

I have Kumho Ecsta Z-Rated 285 tires (I know, they're huge), Exedy Stage 1 Clutch and Solid Lightweight Flywheel. on an 04 Coupe 6MT

Please Help!!!

what tire pressure were you running? I experienced some wheel hop at the track but after dropping the pressure down to about 24-25 PSI it stopped and not to mention helped with traction.

I never lowered tire pressure (kinda last minute, "let's go to the track" thing).

Also, I bought test pipes, but haven't put them on yet. called some muffler shops about having them put them on, but they won't for legal reasons. Any ideas? What will I need to put them on myself? (they have the CEL fixes)

You've kind of screwed yourself for racing at the strip.

1) The big rims and large tires have a lot more weight therefore they're harder to control once spinning.

2) The wide tires have narrow contact patches for launching. They're better for lateral Gs, but horrible for off the line traction.

3) The lightweight flywheel has reduce stored energy which will make the car much harder to launch. Either it's bog city or excessive wheelspin.

The fix?

1) Put your OEM wheels on when racing at the strip.

2) Rev up to around 3000rpms. When it's time to go, release the clutch enough so that you feel the car start to roll. Once you feel the roll, quickly release the clutch while feeding it gas. The goal is to keep the rpms above 3500rpm or so. You might not be able to go full throttle until 5000-5500rpms. The key to launching a manual is not to get excessively greedy with the throttle and shock the tires/drivetrain.

Basically you have 3 bolts holding the rear pumpin up to the body. The 2 up front basically prevent (damper) side to side roll of the rearend. The rear bushing in the carrier frame that bolts to the stud (that is on the cover) prevents front to back pivot. The front to back is basically allowing the pumpkin to hop and slap against the body of the car. Lock that up and your wheel hop isnt bad at all. I run 275 drag radials and have the lightened flywheel/clutch combo as well. I dump my clutch pretty high and hammer down till I make it past the 1320 mark. Feathering the clutch will just cause premature wear on it. Pm me if you have any questions

You've got DRs. He's got street tires. That's a big difference in terms of what the tires can handle on a launch. Clutch slipping or lowering the launch rpm is his only hope.
