Time Debate

A friend and I had an agrument about how the time works for the 1/4 mile regarding your reaction time and the time it actually takes you to complete the 1/4 mile. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the way it works is when the light turns green the reaction time starts and it stops once your wheels pass the laser and that is when your 1/4 mile time starts. He thinks the 1/4 mile time starts at the same time as the reaction time. Who is right?

Your time starts once you trip the lights usually after a 12in roll out. The time does not start when the light turns green.

You can sit there all day your time doesn't start until you move.

Reaction time has nothing to do with your ET reaction is important in competition (bracket, index) where a slow reaction time can cost you the race especially if both times are close.

I forgot you are right the reaction time starts when the light turns green and stops once you trip the lasers depending on how you staged (deep or shallow).
