Very nice!! Those are very respectable numbers for a 100% stock car. Browse around a little and I am sure you will find plenty of info on ways to improve your times. Remember - search is your friend.

So you went to Orlando Speedworld (Spinworld)? A bunch of the Florida G35 Club guys have been there together. Check out our forum and join the club (Click link in my sig). It's a fun group.

yeah i am in orlando and have a 04 5AT sedan though, i ran 14.2 there at 96 stock. the sedans are a little lighter. yeah we are always out there, Florida G35 Club, so check out our forum, i am probably there more than anyone. ill be the one with the MT slicks on it....

btw we have figured out that with brake torqueing you will actually get a slower 60 foot time, i pulled constant 2.1s and low 2.2 bone stock, we have learned that you want to set your car in either 2 or 3, by doing this you can hold each gear out, if you leave it in one, sometimes it doesnt like to shift outta 1st till it hits the rev limiter a few times, so we put it in 2 or 3, personally i like 3 and hold it all the way out, but i know dave b perfers 2, i also have to worry about the 125 shot i am putting into the motor....

hold the brake down, and slam the gas when you go to take off, nissans actually decrease the power to the engine when you press the gas and the brake at the same time and this causes a bog when you take off. trust us we have many runs trying both ways.

i tried to pull out the brake fuse last friday when i was there and it wouldnt let me take it outta park, i would have to remove the brake gaurd off the shifter for it to work....

So what you are suggesting quickly shift to 2nd gear and try to hold 2nd and third gear?? Hmm.. thats a little bit different from what i heard, i always thought u should hold each gear out the longest possible, and after many practices im pretty good at shifting out of 1st gear just before it hits the rev limiter. So whats the fastest method for 5at?? shifting out of 1st and hold 2nd and 3rd gear, or holding each gear till it gets close to redline, given that you wont hit rev limiter?? Because i believe with practice you shouldn't hit the rev limiter for any gear. Also, what do you mean by holdin on to brake and then smash the gas?? Do you mean hold on to brake first and then smash the gas while releasing the brake??

no i am saying to leave it in 3 in manual mode, it will shift for you into second and third and i hold out third all the way, it is best to hold all the gears out if you have an intake and free flowing exhaust because all your power is at the top of the rpms, i choose to leave it in 3 now cause i have to worry about my nitrous, if i was running NA i would probably leave it in 2 and shift manually through the gears. my luck though with shifting outta first is sometimes my car just doesnt want to shift outta 1st, it will hit the rev limiter a bunch of times even though i am pushing the shifter up...

yes with the starting off, i mean i hold the brake down, then i hold my foot about 6 inches off the gas pedal, then floor my car and let off the brake at the same time, i pull 2.1s like this but i could only pull high 2.2 trying to brake torque it. i really think that it hesitates when you take off if you brake torque, this hesitation is after the car is rolling forward so your time has begun.... thats my theory on it all

I would like to clarify something here. When audiblemayhem refers to "put it in 3rd" and holding onto the gears, I'm *assuming* he's talking about a previous version of the tranny where the manumatic mode was more of a top-gear selector than anything else. With > 04.5 at least, it's a true manumatic mode.

Others with the previous trannies can clarify.

well the person i was talking to had a 04, so thats why i said that, sorry i know nissan stopped making the manual mode able to do that on the 04.5 and newer

sorry i should have clarified it more but i he stated he had an 04

i personally like being able to set it in 3rd and not worry about it till then, especially when i have to control the nitrous... just less things to do

Thank you for clarifying that! I was about to get a headache trying to figure out what the hell I was missing in what you were saying. LOL! I know that doesn't say much for me but I was just damn confused and had forgotten about the pre- 04.5 thing.

Great times! I take it you did a bit of spinning. I went through the 1/8 in 9.45 but at only 75.10 MPH - did you notice if you were spinning at launch?

So I take it the general consensus is that MM is better than just leaving it in drive and letting the tranny do all the shifting? I wish I would've known about not brake torquing it before I had went to the track. I was wondering why my times were not more consistent.

Ok i wasnt confused before but now im confused. lol. i have a 04, so i understood what he meant by holding onto the gears. But, what is the difference in mm mode for the 4.5?? I thought they were the same. lol
