Question Aftermarket Clutch Install at Dealer? Yes or No?

My local dealer is giving me grief about buying my own clutch/flywheel online. The dealer's prices are OUTRAGEOUS for aftermarket items. Anyway, they are saying they are not going to give me any warranty on the install. Has anyone had a similar experience? Has anybody had a clutch/flywheel installed by a non-dealer? I know it's a long shot, but if so, does anybody know a good place in the Albuquerque, NM area?

I can't help you with local recommendations, but my dealer installed mine for a bit under $400. I haven't had any issues since the install, but I verified with the dealer that they would warranty their work if anything went wrong. They agreed, but specifically mentioned that if a part was bad, then that was my issue(which I understand).

If the dealer won't do it, or won't honor the work, shop around some of the local nissan dealers.

No franchised dealer is going to warranty work on a part that was bought elsewhere. We sell more aftermarket clutches than OEM clutches and do warranty work on them all the time. It is way easier to buy the clutch from the dealer because they have investigated which parts they can do warranty work on. I would just have the dealer so that there is someone that can back up the work.

I would love to buy from the dealer, but I cannot justify paying their prices. I paid about 40% LESS online for the ACT flywheel alone. The dealer in Albuquerque is great and has always treated me as such, but the price is just too high, even for the great service.

Also, the service manager at the dealership just called me back and said that they WOULD warranty all labor (no parts, obviously).

I usually try to buy my parts from the same place I get the install done. This is kind of a common courtesy. There isn't much margin on aftermarket parts so spending a few extra bucks with someone you trust is typically the way I like to spend my money. if the dealer is totally off, you can print him several of the websites and use that to lower your price but I would still aim to buy the parts from them.
