you can keep the stock clutch assembly...but why would you wana do that if your gonna do the flywheel...while everything is accessible...might as well through in a new clutch assembly...and yes i do believe a lightened flywheel will bring revs up faster...dont know how much of a difference though

Most aftermarket flywheels will work with the stock clutch but I would change it while you are in there. I know that UR, JWT and most of the other oem size ones will work.

It does bring the revs up faster. The oem is ~28lbs and my UR is 12lbs.

Make sure you can deal with a little chatter if you get one. The UR is one of the best but does still have a little chatter.

Lightened flywheels work well - you'll get higher mile per hours in a 1/4, but slower 60ft times. The increase is felt/seen mostly in the mid-range. You will also get far more noise and vibration out of the MT gear train. The reason they are heavier is for dampening on the flywheel.

You can use a lightweight flywheel with the stock clutch. But the labor to put that flywheel in there, I would just do the clutch at the same time, instead of doing it again later.

Here are a few available with their weights:

ACT Prolite flywheel (13.2lbs)
ACT Streetlite flywheel (16.9lbs)
Fidanza aluminum flywheel (13.5lbs)
Jim Wolf flywheel (14lbs)

Exedy and Spec both make flywheels too, but I am unsure of their weights.

keep in mind some flywheels will only work with their clutches such as rps...i had to swap out my rps clutch for a stock 300z twin turbo to get the stock setup back but keep the flywheel...luckily the clamping force is only 100kg diff

If you are asking what causes the chatter is is because the oem flywheel is a dual mass two piece and the lightened ones are one piece aluminum. The transmission noise is transferred through it.
