Total its about $3000 parts and labor included, and a turnaround time of 1-2 weeks.

probably sourcing a manual ECU.

I'm really not too specific on the G35 ECU differences, but this procedure isn't rocket science nor is it ground breaking.

I'm guessing the most involved part is changing out the pedals and switching out the wiring harness. (assuming the trannys just bolt on)

Ofcourse for 3 grand you might be better off trading it in for a manual tranny car.

Goodluck with your project and don't let the shop **** you around with the deadline too much.

yah itll be costly to take off the turbo, body, and all the other mods and i guess the total would be around the same. But if i just swap it i dont have to go through DMV or anything like that.
the shop is pretty good with deadlines and they work pretty fast.
the guy did a sr20 swap on a 240 in a day.

Wow that is pretty good. Was AC still intact?

Did not see that you had a turbo installed. For how many miles did you have the turbo?

I would wait to post times and total cost at the end of the project. These projects always end up dragging out and costing more in the end then the beginning.

As far as I know the 6MT doesn't have a dedicated control unit, so switching to the 6MT would be easier then converting to a 5AT. However, I'm not sure if the ECUs are different. I know that the 6MT has some different wiring, but we'll have to wait and see if everything works out.

Good luck!

I don't think I know of a single person that hasn't had problems after completing auto to manual swaps and this is on cars far less advanced than a G35.

I don't think this shop understands what they're getting into. SR20 into an 240? That's about as common was the Honda guys swapping out a D16 for a B18.

-If they "swap ECUs" then how does the existing ignition from the old ECU talk to the new ECU?

-Pedals, clutch lines, master and slave cylinders, clutch safety switch - have fun with all that.
