Yeah but I meant on a DRY road with very sticky tires (what I got). On a wet road, it's conceivablle, but on a dry road... something entirely different. I can only imagine if I had those crappy Turanza stock tires - it would spin a lot more. These new Kumho's are VERY VERY good.

Ohh Gurgen, I see... no that doesn't happen to me with new tires or dry road LOL U have a beast in low end thats why!! Could be dangerous though better find something that will limit that. Did you put a LSD in?? Not sure if it would help much but I read some people have been doing it. Gurgen you know in our nismo bumbers the black little piece in the bumber like the plastic across bar in the lower grills i took them out and put a mesh grill cause I need to cut a piece outta the left bumber for the injen to get more air, you know where I can get another plastic piece or a pair? Im taking mesh grilles off they look too cheap thanks! iLLG

I'm pretty sure that they won't sell you that separately. But who knows ... otherwise - I have no idea - but sounds interesting. I though about doing that too.

The car feels strong. But I have done so many changes to it that I am nto sure which way is up anymore. I do not have an intake, which I thik is killing me now given that i have such a free-flowing exhaust/cats and a good plenum (crawford) that my intake is the bottleneck. I am also runnig very rich. I am doing a full battery disconnect sincemy last (good) TC. A full reset is required as I have come to know after a TC (or a major driveline) mod. After I did a rest with my last (bad - pre-production core, as it turn out) TC I gained .3 seconds in the 0-60 and an 9 HP increase on the dyno (yes, I actually did dyno before and after a batery disconnect to confirm that I was stronger)!!! So, the jury is still out but for not very much longer.
HEre is something you can check - you AT guys. Do this for me - and the community. When you are in 5th gear - Manual mode, on a level piece of highway, engage cruise control at any speed, let the speed and rpms stabilise (5 seconds) and note the RPM. Try to be VERY precise here. The in MM mode, notch back the lever to 4th and back to 5th after a second. The car will obviously shift to 4th and back to 5th. But here is the trick, the instance when it shifts back to 5th, the TC is in an UNLOCKED mode - which means that the engine is spinning the wheels through an unlocked TC by virtue of a full fluid linkage. In the next 4-5 seconds (you are still in cruise control), you wil notice the rpms falling FROM YOUR NOTED RPM while your TC is locking. When it is locked you have a near 0% loss. We need to know how much of a drop in rpm you see going from the unlocked to locked TC position.
Get this. from a few people that I talked to, as well as my own car, the drop is anywhere between 350-400 rpm. My drop is ONLY 100-125 rpm!!! That is the best evidence that the fluid linkage is FAR more efficient.

Again, this is an old old mod. It is tried and true. It does not kill the tranny. Only heat will do that in an auto tranny.
This is the first mod to make if you take your car to the strip or stoplight race.

I got a low stall converter in anticipation of my turbos. Can't spin the tires as I used to with my 3000 stall converter.

they are saying 330 (this is the same as the M45 tranny, so figure 330 plus x% design factor) is safe. to get to 480 you are gonna need a shift kit (aka valve body rebuild) to keep the line pressure (and thus fluid flowrate thru the cooler) high, a big beefy truck towing tranny cooler, and probably some synthetic fluid. A bullet proof tranny rebuild might be a good investment but that is ~2000.00 as of 2003. that will give you stronger bands and other software to allow less flexing between gears as you increase the heatload.
Synthetic is your last line in this case as it is supposed to be bad for the tranny.

I ran synthetic in mine for a few hundred miles (before my modding days) by mistake when i didn't know that you're not supposed to. It was fine. I think that our tranny fluid IS synthetic (the J fluid). What is this bulletproff tranny rebuild? Can you point me in the right direction? I already have a 16000 lb GVW tranny cooler (not very big) connected, and I do understand that the VB mod is gonna be a must.

Call up a tranny shop such as Level 10 or Maximum Tuning and ask them about it. They can explain it much better than me.. But basically they replace all the 100 odd items of software and wear items in the tranny with mo betta stuff and ensure it is clean.

We are just finishing adding a Greddy TT to a 2003 G35 5AT, we still have a few more days and tuning, but I can tell the tranny is not liking the turbo.
I am reading about Level 10 rebuilds vs ECU reflash. Who has had good results with either?
