Too much fluid in tranny

The dealer told me that they use about 3-3.5 quarts on a drain and fill. I drained and replaced 3 quarts and checked the dipstick after driving it a bit. The fluid is about 1 inch above the max fill line. Should I drain some out?

Thanks for your help!

Are you running the car when you check it. Leave car in park and turn on motor let it warm up and check while idling in park. You are gonna need more than 3quarts

Thanks for your response jj. Yes, I did what you described. I also checked it cold this morning and it was still way over the fill line.

If it's over serviced, the excess fluid will exit under pressure via a blow out valve under hard driving conditions which will end up on the under side and back end of your car. If the dealer serviced the tranny, it should have been a flush and fill using a fluid exchange machine so I'm surprised the over serviced. Take it back to the dealer if it truly is.
