Manual trans oil
Manual trans oil
Ugh, I have researched and then literally searched town around for any GL-4 oil for the manual transmission so I could do most of the 60,000 mile service myself. The nearest dealer is 45 minutes away, so I finally broke down and took it to a Jiffy Lube. I made certain to tell the assistant manager the the car had to have GL-4 oil, I looked at his computer, and yet he put Mobil 1 GL-5 synthetic in the trans.
I'm supposed to take the car back tomorrow and he says they'll order GL-4 oil. I ended up driving it home and I doubt he'll be able to get GL-4 oil tomorrow.
After searchig around a bit, I looked at this:
http://www.mobil.com/USA-English/Lub..._LS_75W-90.asp
It says "Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lubricant LS 75W-90 can also be used in rear axles where API Service GL-4 lubricant is recommended"
I know this isn't about a rear axle, but it does say it can be used where API GL-4 is recommended. So are there any oil experts on this forum that can advise if i should leave the Mobil 1 synthetic, or demand they change this out for a GL-4?
Thanks!
