Clutch Problems Need Help!

I have a '04 GCoupe 6MT, it's the first manual tranny car that I own, but I do know how to drive. I've had the car for 5 months, and the car is just about to roll over 40k miles. Starting like 2 weeks ago I started having slight issues, the car would engage higher, and on the freeway if I would gas it a little the revs would jump and then fall back down before the car started picking up speed. I took it to the dealership and the told me my clutch needed to be replaced and quoted me $2400. Is that rev jumping thing clutch slippage, should I change the clutch, and if so wat do people recommend. I have heard nothing but good things about a JWT clutch, but was told I need to get the JWT flywheel also if I do JWT clutch. Let me know guys, I'm a little lost, and DEFINITELY don't wanna spend crazy money at a stealership!

yea your clutch is slipping...i've heard good things about the JWT clutch and flywheel combo too and that is the combo i'm going with once my clutch goes

out...if you live in s. cali, you should buy and get your clutch/flywheel installed by street image (pm meechin)...the summer blowout sale is over but they still have good prices

when you get products installed by them...if you're not in s. cali just compare vendor prices...

i pmed you the pricing quote i've seen...and a lightweight flywheel will make your revs rise and fall faster...

If you don't want chatter, them OEM flywheel is pretty much your only option. All aftermarket solid flywheels chatter to some extent.

Ive driven a JWT clutch/flywheel combo car, and honestly, its not as loud as some people on the forums make it out to be. The chatter is only there from like 1200rpms to about 1600rpms. It grabs very nicely, much better than OEM. Go with the JWT combo bro, I guarantee you, you will be pleased. The car also seemed to accelerate and decelerate faster due to the lightened flywheel, but its a very nice feel.

Is it possible to do JWT clutch and leave the OEM flywheel in place?

The OEM flywheel can't be resurfaced, so most will suggest purchasing a new one. Reusing a flywheel that wasn't resurfaced could lead to issues down the road, I doubt many have gone this route, especially if your clutch as been slipping for any significant amount of time, which could possibly warp the flywheel in itself.

What would you suggest as one of the quietest flywheels, but without breaking the bank??

I dunno, I haven't heard many in person, the two I have heard have too much chatter for me, but others have said are relatively quiet. Personally when the time comes to change my clutch, I'll be going with the stock flywheel just because I can't justify the added chatter for the minimal performance gains and lower cost. I didn't buy this car to be an all out perfomance car, I bought it as a luxury cruiser that happens to handle well.

I haven't bought it yet, not driving my car for now cuz license is temporarily suspended, (rather not say for what) but the best deals I've gotten with labor are all in the $1200 range.

This sounds like my problem! I have an 04 6MT, and I just purcahsed it. 55k miles. The clutch doesn't engage until its almost 95% up. I was told the "G" is like that. Sounds like I got ripped. I notice if Im on freeway, and I gas a little it the revs jump and fall back down. Plus I notice if I'm on it, it's stinking. I've been driving auto for the past couple years, but drove manual before this. Can I be certain too that the clutch is gone? I'm in AZ if anyone knows a good place! Thanks for the help

^yea that's pretty much a telltale sign that your clutch is gone.
