new manual tranny

The dealer has approved the installation of a new manual transmission for my 2004 G35 under warranty (~90km / 55kmiles). Shifting from 4th to 5th grinds easily. The tranny also makes noise when cold.

The dealer is recommending changing the flywheel but this will cost me $1800.

Can anyone comment on whether changing the flywheel is absolutely necessary?

Thanks ... Claude

Get an aftermarket flywheel! No point spending that much on a oem part unless you plan to keep it stock forever.
