Stock Clutch weak?

OK I have had a problem with launches. Only done it twice and each time it seems my cutch has failed and slipped throwing me in very high RPMs with no power. It must be the clutch not able to hold the power right? (Turned VDC off) Got owned by a beemer the other night! Arrgh.

yeah, I have also experienced that with my 05. Not all the time, but maybe once every few months. It does only happen when I am really getting on it on a launch. I would agree w you that the clutch isn't that good. But the dealer won't do Sheeet about it. I tried, and when I took the dude from the dealer for a ride to try and replicate the problem he told me to take him back to the dealer because he was scared. haha whut a wuss.

tjlazer After your inncident, could you smell the clutch?

Yeah it was reeking after that real bad. Was worried I glazed it or something. But it seems ok... I think I will get a JWT Clutch kit when the time comes...

I think it's best not to drop the clutch, just start off moderatly then gun it. VDC off helps too. I had some wheel hop or shuddering when I launched too, I think it was VDC still, I heard even when its off it still works...

Is the clutch actually not grabbing or is the clutch pedal sticking to the floor causing the burning? This is fairly common and is the result of boiling the stock fluid. There is a DIY on how to change it and it helps tremendously

I have done many over 4k rpm launches and never had any kind of slippage even with almost 60k on the stock clutch. I know the pedal feel is way different with 03-04 compare to 05-06 clutches but i thought the clutch itself was the same.

No sticking to the floor. I launched, wheels spun, though it shuddered a little, right after I shifted to 2nd I lost all power and then I see the rpms spike to 6-7K RPMs and I was going nowhere. I let off the gas and put it in neutral and slowed down and put it back in gear. It seemed ok but the clutch burned real bad and you could smell it.

I was going to say it sounds like your wheels are just spinning. Your not going to hear a squealing noise from the tires because good quality tires don't make a squeal.

Right foot control is what you need
