So is there any way to get one with a 3.3? I like the new taller gearing.

they used to make a spacer... call Quaife America and see if it's still available... or better yet ask if their (AutoTech) version will be available in a size that fits 3.3...

I wanted to keep the 3.3, but the 3.3 gear is thicker, so it won't fit with the bigger diff that you get with the 6 MT or the Quaife. If it were thinner, you would be able to shim it.

ooops, you are correct - I was thinking backwards in my previous post - Quaife only makes MT version now... previously the AT version required spacer for MT application...

Tim - check with Quaife America anyway to see if the old AT version is available through England or if their new AutoTech version will fit your application...

Or maybe check into KAAZ: http://www.kaazusa.com/contact2.html … I was considering theirs before deciding on Quaife – they are real close to me so if you need any in-person stuff let me know…

What happened to the "wait a while"?...

I think we need to schedule an intervention

I asked them about the AT version when I bought mine. They said I was SOL.

I think that alone would stop me from getting one. Since my car is still a DD I like having the taller gears for power and fuel savings on the freeway. When I get a new DD and make my car more of a show/track car I would consider going with one.

Here is the response I received from Quaife, concerning the AT diff.

"It is correct that we are no longer carrying the 44.309.180 as a stocking part number here in America any longer, however, the UK factory still has a handful of these units available (at last check). We could special order a unit for you at the cost of $2195.00. We could have it sent over in two weeks with our standard stock order.

It is not possible to make the 44.309.181 work with the final drive ratio currently in your car. The crown wheel offsets are different.

Kind regards,

Harleigh Williams
Technical Sales Support
Quaife Product Manager"

So it's available, but expensive.

$2200! Sorry but I would rather get a Nismo LSD and deal with replacing the clutches a few times over the life of the car.

Just swap pumpkins with a vlsd 6MT G35 or 350Z. You'll save a ton of money on labor. The stock vlsd is sufficient unless you want something more aggressive. I swapped my open diff 5AT pumpkin with a track 350Z pumpkin and immediately felt a difference. Just make sure that the car you are swapping with is around the same year as your cars. I know if you try to swap an 03 pumpkin with an 06 pumpkin it may not work.
