Does anyone know if the 350 Short throw Shifter is compatible witht the G?

Will this one work on the coupe?
Is it worth $180?

if it'll work with the 350z, it'll work for the G.

Re: Short throw Shifter

Has anyone seen a DIY for a short throw shifter? I know I could do a z-tube install, but that is the baseline for my ability when it comes to mods. I can handle an oil change, brake pad change etc, but is this over my head?

Thanks,
-Chris

I was hoping for a DIY with pictures along the way. I'll pay for that! :-P

Re: Short throw Shifter

Go to Rogueengineering.com The last time I was there, few months ago, they have a DIY w/pixs. Its the same instuctions they give you with the shifter. You should read my post ( a month ago) about my install. It just might save you some grief. Hope this helps.

Re: Short throw Shifter

yes, it is compatible. but others are right when they say "check out rogueengineering.com" their customer service is great, and the quality is also great. the rogue shifter is also "beefier" than the B&M.....looks more like the stock shifter and probably eases the shifting process due to the weight. hope that helps.

How do you know the rogue shifter is beefier than the B&M? Did you do a comparison between the 2 or is this just word of mouth

Re: Short throw Shifter

I'm not the one that mention that Rogue is beefier than B&M. My experience is with Rogue only. That said, I looked at the picture of the B&M shifter for the '03 350z. "If" that is the actual picture of the B&M shifter, it is totally different than the Rogue. Rogue does not have that flat plate with 2 screw holes. Also, Rogue has a bushing at the end of shifter where it connects to linkage under the car. The stock shifter also has that bushing. If the bushing isn't there, I can maybe forsee a problem with the bolt (slop?). I've heard B&M are good quality, and maybe the pic on website isn't the actual shifter. I had my Rogue for 2 months and love it. Rogue is more expensive than B&M. Hope this helps

Re: Short throw Shifter

"beefier" might not have been the best term, but by the pictures, it jus' looks that way. i would agree with rrowen and have made the same conclusions.

Re: Short throw Shifter

Trying to help you out. What compairsons are you looking for? Quality, throw distances, price, install? I don't think you are going to find a compairson between the two. This was my thinking. I looked into both Rogue and B&M. I have known about B&M long before I owned my coupe. It seems that their main interest of design(s) is for American cars. Viper, Corvette, etc. My conclusion (mine only) was that the Rogue shifter was the best quality aftermarket short shifter made for the coupe. After researching Rogue & their website, I made my decision. Hell, Rogue makes parts for the Mclaren F1 road car. I was not disappointed. I think you are going to have to make that same "gut feeling" choice. Hope this helps.

Re: Short throw Shifter

Thank you for the post rrowen. What kind of differences have you noticed with your shorter throw shifter? I guess there couldn't be too many things to notice.

Re: Short throw Shifter

Chris,
This is my opinion only. The difference between the Rogue over the stock shifter is this: I have notice the Rogue is more precise getting into gear(s), especially when downshifting (fast or slow) and has a "notchier" (not a word) feel with that precision, which I like. Also, the shift effort takes a little more, which makes the shifter feel solid. The shift gates are found easier with Rogue. That is because of the shorter travel distance between gears. When comparing the Rogue & stock shifters side by side, Rogue is machine billet and is thicker than stock. Rogue sits a little higher than stock. Nothing noticeable & stock **** fits. I went with different ****.
Go to page 7 in this forum and scroll half way down page. I did a post called: Hints on installing Rogue. 0 responses...lol I'm not trying to talk you into a Rogue over B&M or any shifter for that matter. Just trying to help you out with my experience with Rogue.
