Final Drive Gear Ratio 4.9?
Final Drive Gear Ratio 4.9?
Hey Guys, I was just seeing if there was an OEM final drive ratio larger than the 4.083, I saw one for an Xterra at 4.9
So here's my question, how do you know what will fit the G? I understand the higher the number, the more top end you lose, but the faster the acceleration becomes. Is there clearance or heat issues, etc?

4.9 FD on our trannies would make 1st gear completely useless, even on a stock G35.
A taller FD does not always mean better. It seems as if the tallest FD you can put on our cars, depending on what power you are putting down and its curve, might be 4.0's. And even so, you'll need very sticky tires with that FD.
PS. An Xterra would have different gear ratios, so an FD of 4.9 isn't the same as an FD of 4.9 on our cars.
