When I had to change mine the dealership matches the price with another shop which was $400. I went to some friends and change it instead

i would assume its a powertrain warranty because clutch slave cylinder is not part of a body, but a mechanical thing that helps move the car...but then again u never know

It should be covered under the powertrain warranty. Good for 7 years and 70,000 miles I believe. (correct me if im wrong)

Not that I have the car anymore but my dealership tried to hose me and charge for the slave cylinder.. with 50k miles on a 2004 last year! so be careful and read the warranty booklet first. service advisor said it wasn't powertrain...I begged to differ and so I left.
btw i never changed it I just changed the fluid!

thanks for the info. im doing the oil conumption test at the moment, ill ask the advisor to check my clutch. My clutch lately has been getting stuck half way point, but then i did adjust it.

last time i brought it up to them about the clutch issue, they said they could not repeat the issue.

Can't be, I asked the service advisors at Infiniti Tustin and they told me the clutch slave cylinder should be covered under the powertrain warranty

Recently (about month and a half) my clutch pedal developed squeak when I step on it about halfway down. It doesn't get stuck but i can feel the increase friction or lack of smoothness at the halfway point. I check the fluid it's around the halfway. could this be the clutch slave cylinder failing problem? My car is 03.5 sedan.

thanks
Peter

I have a 6MT with the EXACT same problem. The car heats up and the clutch starts to stick midway and I need to pull it back up with my toes. I already started looking into a new clutch. GLAD I checked out this webisite. I appreciate the news. I will go to the dealer and see what they will do about the slave cylinder. Still under warranty and I have the extended 100,000 warranty as well hope they treat me better than they have with the Brake issues I have had.

Ask the dealer to lube up the clutch pedal spring

ok...well let's just say your results may vary. I didn't argue I just left and I knew he was wrong but some service advisors are a**holes. He thought he could take advantage of a young kid( I'm 28 by the way) I'll mention no names but that guy fought me hand over fist for every warranty repair. He made me feel like I was breaking the car...so I found another dealership.

My point is OP don't take no for an answer!!!
Happy driving

I didn't see this above so I wanted to let you know that the flywheel in the G is a dual mass, meaning that is has two parts separated by springs, etc. The reason is to keep the noise down.

If your flywheel is warn down and needs to be re-surfaced which I bet after 61k it will there are not very many shops that will re-surface a dual mass unit so it will have to be replaced. They are very expensive. I believe the dealer charges ~$1,100 for just the flywheel.

You can purchase an aftermarket single piece unit like Jim wolf, Unorthodox, etc, etc (there are lots of them) and an aftermarket clutch (centerforce, Jim Wolf, etc) for less than the price of just the flywheel. The drawbacks are some additional transmission noise, also called chatter. The pros are some mild performance gains due to the reduced rotational mass of the flywheel.

Unless you want to go pay the dealer a ton of cash for everything I would do some homework first.
