Trans sticking???

I have about 700miles on my G coupe automatic and havent gotten on it too much cause of break in. My question is that I have noticed more lately that when I am going between 35-45 and I hit the gas about 3/4, then let go within a couple of seconds the rpm's seem to stick for about two seconds around the 3000 -4000 range. It almost seems like it doesn't want to downshift very quick. I used to have a pontiac GTP and it didn't seem to do this. Is it because this is normal or I am letting off the gas to quick or maybe the trans is bad from the start or its not broken in enough yet??? Does this seem to happen to anybody else? Any help or ideas is appreciated.

Thanks,

It almost sounds like the "learning algorithm" of the 5AT
has been "grannyed". Drive a little more agressivley and try
to un-granny it, or reset the ECU and see if it responds better.

I thought "drive by wire" would be more responsive. Are you
saying the computer contolled throttle is less responsive than
a mechanical one?

Re: Trans sticking???

Well, we have replaced quite a few throttle body units. The drive by wire is better I think, BUT they have an actuator motor on the throttle body itself to open the butterfly when you step on the gas. And the actuator motor seems to have issues. When I said it was normal this is what I meant. It is just a different charactoristic than cable

Re: Trans sticking???

I actually should of said it doesn't seem like it wants to upshift, or just change gears. It just seems to stick in the same gear at the same Rpm for a couple of seconds with my foot off of the gas, after the brief acceleration. Cato you might be right also, because I have been granny driving a little bit.

Re: Trans sticking???

Then try the quick ECU reset method InfinitiTech has
suggested. The most it will cost you is the loss of your
radio settings and trip odometer mileage.

Re: Trans sticking???

But not if he does the easy method. I notice this all the time after a couple weeks with out the reset. It's easy to simulate - just stand on the gas when you are in say 4th around 4500 and right when it starts to shift down to 3 - let off a bit - and then watch the tach stick and the shift takes about 2 seconds - it's like the "clutch" never gets let in for a sec there but the motor winds up to speed for being dropped into 3 anyway.

ECU reset clears this everytime...

Re: Trans sticking???

SixFive....What you described is almost exactly what is happening. I am just glad I am not the only one experiencing this. I think this weekend I will reset the ECU and see if this clears up the problem. I will let you guys know if it seems to fix the problem after the reset.
