Premature clutch wear-what replacement?

I have a 2003 G35 6MT sedan. The first clutch went at 32K and the dealer replaced clutch, flywheel, bearing, etc for over $2 grand. 16 K miles later and it's slipping like crazy.

I have had many MTs in my life and never got less than 90K miles on any other clutch. I have been babying my car lately to get better milage (can get 21 in hard CITY driving). I don't ride it, hold it on hills, burn out, under-rev or any other clutch killing behavior. I'm done with OEM clutches.

What is a good, long lasting replacement clutch for a daily driver that doesn't race, is driven mostly in Center City Philadelphia (good shop for installation would be appreciated too)? I don't want it to feel like a truck or an F1 car, but if it's a bit stiffer than stock or chatters somewhat more, that's o.k. Please help with your replacement suggestions.

sounds to me like you're slipping it a lot. That's just my thought. I'm not a mechanic though.

perhaps you have air in your clutch lines... do you ever have problems with the pedal not returning all the way?

Hadn't even though of hydraulic problems. Good tip, thanks. I did check the fluid reservoir, but it was o.k. so I didn't give it another thought. My pedal doesn't stick, though intermittently I feel a slight "catch" in the pedal stroke. It's very subtle, like something is bumping into the pedal or linkage. The pedal moves smoothly up and down, but I feel this slight interference about 2-3 inches from the floor. It's been doing that for about a year, but only sometimes, and never when I'm at the dealer. Monday I'm taking it in to Holman Infiniti in Cherry Hill, NJ. They replaced my clutch at 32,000 and I'm at 48,000 now. I would be glad if it is something else and my clutch didn't wear out in 16,000 miles, especially since I have been babying it for the past year to save fuel. If it is the clutch, I'm not getting another OEM.

Still looking for suggestions for a good, long lasting, reasonably priced clutch and flywheel kit for a city daily driver.

I would replace the clutch fluid whenever you replace your brake fluid. It's very easy to do at home.
