Unhappy AWD and Transfer case problem

I live in vermont and the infiniti dealer left town after i bought my car, has not been a big deal until now. Car is 04x with 91k. The AWD light comes on after i drive for a few miles. This renders the car rwd. Mite be fun in summer but i have a nasty driveway that requiers awd most days. The car goes to nissan on monday but i dont think they will be much help. Does any one know if this is a sensor or mechinaical issue with the transfer case? What the cost mite be? I have had it on a snap-on scan tool with no codes showing.

Good to know bud!

I've also got an 04x with 57K... Infinite connectors seem to corrode and go bad.. I had issues with the anti-lock wheel sensor connectors being corroded and kept trying to cut back going into "safe mode" during accelleration... that was jacked up!

Almost got swallowed up by a truck while trying to accelerate onto the highway and the system decided to throttle back the engine!?!?!

problem came back

So my awd is out again and this time the solenoid is bad, the really bad news is that its in the transfer case and is unserviceable. So looks like i am getting a new transfer case. Used it will cost $1000 give or take with labor. New the Part is $2200 alone.

Hey anilson - did you ever get this fixed? I had the same issue around the same time as you, but chose to not get it fixed.

I've only gotten stuck once when it snowed 24" this past Christmas and the plows didn't make it out yet...

AWD fixed

Yes, i just did it this year. Easy Fix.
I bought a transfer case from ebay for $264 shipped. Two hours labor and bam AWD again. Did it for less then $500

Get a 06 or newer case they seem to not have the problems of 04 cases.

Hey Adam.

I have the same issue. Code c1204 and 1210 and AWD light is on the dash.

Sounds like the solenoid is shot and need to replace the T.C. How hard is it? Can you provide few pointers? Thx in advance..

Dan

Did you have to drop the transmission to change out your transfer case??
