Clutch Pedal Vibration / Chatter Question
Clutch Pedal Vibration / Chatter Question
Hi guys,
First off, this issue is very similar to this thread here, except the vibration is felt throughout all the gears while engaging the clutch:
https://g35driver.com/forums/engine-...vibration.html
I test drove an 06 6mt coupe with about 9000 miles on it. I've searched and searched through the forums but I'm not sure I've seen the exact situation I was having. My question is, is this normal (if not, what could it be):
When you start to either press or depress (and during it's range of travel) the clutch pedal, there is a pulsing, or rhythmic vibration felt in the pedal. It's quite noticeable. I cut the stereo all the way off, and I asked my GF if she heard anything, and she said she didn't. So I guess it wasn't an audible chatter.
When the car is in neutral or in gear, it's fine. I didn't feel any vibration on any of the pedals. I even touched my foot lightly on top of the clutch to see if it was still pulsing. Nothing. I also noticed that it is noticeable right as you first start to press it, before the clutch plates are pushed apart. I mean, there's about an inch or two of play before it starts to pull the plates apart, and the vibration can be felt as soon as you start to press it in.
They let me test an 06 Z to see if i felt the same thing, and it felt smooth as butter. I'm guessing this is not how the clutch is intended to feel, but is it normal/dangerous/something to worry about?
I'm thinking it might be the TOB since it does it only during and just before clutching?
Any ideas? They are going to put it up on the racks tomorrow and have another look, I want to give them some ideas. This is the only issue otherwise stopping me from grabbing this one.
Thanks if you read this far!
