transmission cost?
I have an 05 g35x A/T with 74x miles. with no warranty.
The dealership said they would replace my transmission for $3500! thats with the discount that infiniti customer affairs gave me. Should I do it? They would give me a warranty for 1year/12k miles. Im going to check out some shops later and get some quotes.
My reverse gear is the only gear that seems to be bad, just slight slippage. How long do you guys think I would be able to drive b4 my whole transmission goes?
Is the reverse gear the first gear to go bad in the transmission?
How's the additive "Lucas". I seen it b4 at pepboys and says it will help transmission from slippage and etc.....
thanks.

Lucas would be the last thing I would add to ATF of a $5,200 transmission!
If you must add something Lubeguard Red will have the best impact with least danger to 5AT. BUT adding anything to special synthetic ATF totally voids warranty by transmission manufacturer [JATCO].

The $3500 is a decent discount from retail MSRP.
Don't wait too long or you might find the offer withdrawn!
Wholesale rebulders usually charge $2800-$3,000 for unit then 5-6 hours swap labor.
The question is the integrated TCU is now inside tranny so specialty software and 4 wheel drive might make this very iffy for even the best rebuilder to get right.
All Nissan replacement units are either brand new or rebuilt by JATCO in a special Tennessee Factory and everyone is dyno tested for new compliance SOMETHING only a very few facilities in US do due to $100,000 cost of tranny computerized dynos.

The point is we replace hundreds of Nissan transmissions and never have good luck with local rebuilders. Always something skipped like a new valve body or new torque convertor however they can cut costs.

Where are you located? If in So Cal, my mechanic got me a new transmission and installed it on my '01 Accord sedan for a tad under 1k. He also warrantied it for a year. I'm sure he would work on the G35, but my car is under warranty so I haven't taken it to him. Price will probably be a little more but I'm sure it will be cheaper than the dealership.
If you're not in So Cal, I would look for reputable auto shops or even places that specialize in transmissions.
