new clutch break in procedures?
Picking up car today....and i was wondering what the break in procedures are for a new clutch and flywheel.....i always thought 500 miles of "gentle love" was a good rule of thumb but i didnt know if anyone else had some good advice.
Guys, Clutch break-in is intended to seat the clutch materials and wear it in evenly. Remember, due to the affects of simple physics the outer edge will wear in at a fast rate than the inner edge (as it is farther away from the centerline of the assembly and thus must spin faster). There isn't really an RPM limit for break-in. In truth the point is that you shift as much as possible to allow the materials to bed in properly. The more you shift the better! I hope this info helps. Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks!
