Unhappy Sticky Clutch Problem

Hello everyone,

I'm having a problem with my clutch. After long city drives the clutch starts to get sticky. That is, when I release it, it gets stuck somewhere in the middle on its way back so I have to pull it back with my foot to get it fully released .. One day I wanted to check how it will perform if I tried to lunch the car in a higher RPM .. so i reved the engine up to about 3500 then let the clutch go, the clutch got stuck in the middle and the car started jerking to the front untill I pulled it back with my foot .. Then the burining-clutch smell came out

I took it to the dealer and according to their records, the clutch has only 20k miles on it since it's been replaced at about 40k miles and they said they would charge about $400 labor to inspect the problem .. Has anybody have this problem before or have any idea of what might caused it?

It's an 05 BTW
Thanks.

Take a peek at your clutch fluid reservoir... make sure the fluid in there is full and clean looking and that there are no leaks around it. The fluid should be relatively clear in color(possibly a slight amber tint) and clean looking... if it's real dark, that's bad.... and you should at least put new fluid in the reservoir.... if not in the entire clutch assembly.

I'd start there as a first option.

i had the same problem well almost. When i changed it to a SS clutch line they couldn't bleed my system. Turned out that i had to get the master cylinder changed, and the brass box thats under the driver side wheel well. Pretty much the fluid was drink and clogged the lines

I had the same problem- the dealer replaced the clutch slave and master cylinder. The tech said it was common.

To the op, try the search button. There are 100's of threads about this issue. Have a tech test drive your car, it should be your faulty clutch slave cylinder. It should be replaced under warranty. Tell the service advisor who quoted you 400 dollars to go fvck himself.

Same boat.... my car is sitting at the dealership as I type this. They couldn't tell me anything before I left but I am betting it's the clutch slave n master cylinder. One thing I did find out is that the previous own had the original clutch replaced at 17k by infiniti and it didn't show on nada or carfax. I have 32k on it and bought it at 30k, they must have been a horrible driver.

I got my car back today and sure enough it was the master and slave cylinders. The clutch feels great now and no sticking. All covered under warranty.

I have the same problem as well. The sevice tech wa a complete jack *** and thought he knew everything as usual. He was claiming it was the clutch plate.... I told him that it was the slave cylinder and her got pissed... I hate hate hate!! dealerships.... I then got into a arguement with the service advisor and service manager.. he said that if the clutch is gone it isnt covered under warranty... i argued that i just got the damn car and it shouldnt be bad already especially that the car was in there getting a new unimeter.

same issue here after a long drive when its pretty warm outside 65* or warmer the play in the pedal starts to stick. After a couple of mins the pedal comes back to normal. Went to the dealer twice and said it was the pressure plate. They replaced it, and still having a problem when i thought from the start it was a pressure problem that had something to do with the master and slave. Just get feed up with going back to the dealer and them f@##ing up my rims or something, so im just going to tackle the master and slave myself. Glad to see a fix for this!!!!

Well. I got a call today from the scum bag dealer.. More on that later... It turns out that the clutch is completely burnt out... So they are replacing it no charge since I've only had the car for 6 days. Whoever had it before must of ragged the clutch to death.
