Where to find the transmission assembly part number?

Do you guys know where to find the part number on the transmission? Is it visible from underneath the vehicle or will I need to disassemble/remove it from the engine/crankshaft to find out the part number?

My installer told me that if my transmission ends in "09" then I have one of the "improved" trannies. He said some of the earlier '03's had tranny problems. And since I'm one of the ones that did have their 2003 transmission "break", I just wanted to see if I in fact received a more reliable one from the dealership two years ago when it was replaced under warranty.

Naturally, the dealership said they were not installing a "new" or "improved" transmission when I specifically asked this question.

Thanks,
B
