Too late to install a Transgo kit?
I don't know if any oil temp sender will work, but I don't see why not and yes I believe the best way is to tap the hoses going to the cooler.
The only time it's too late to install a shift kit is after the transmission has started to exhibit problems like slippage. Installing it when the transmission is new or right after a rebuild of course is best. And your choice of Transgo is probably the best out there. It drives like OEM in everyday use, but shifts very fast and firm under WOT.
Heat is, overall, the biggest enemy to the life of a transmission. The Transgo will lower operating temps because it reduces slippage when shifting. Friction during slippage is turned into heat energy, less slippage means lower temps.
A transmission cooler is also of great importance and they are dirt cheap. Install the biggest one that will fit. Bypass the OEM cooler entirely, or, if you need a security blanket, install it so that the fluid passes through the cooler last before going back to the transmission. But a totally separate cooler is best because an engine overheat won't overheat the transmission.

Today, thanks to ATF in Davie, Florida, I got the Transgo kit installed. AWESOME MOD! BEST EVER DONE TO MY CAR! Like describe before, at low rpm driving everything feel very similar to before the kit, but at WOT is a whole new car. Highly recommended to all.
Revieved my Transgo kit today, not much in it, LOL! I bought 8 qts of tranny fluid from my local dealership for $8 a qt which was not bad...not I have to decide when I will tackle this.
