I am having the grinding issue with my 6MT transmission ('03 6mt) when I put it into 3rd at RPMs above 4K. I flushed the fluids and still does it. So, I am thinking about changing the transmission, since it's as much expensive to change the synchros on it (correct me if I am wrong there). So my question is:

Can I use the transmission from later models? I've heard that the later models had 3-piece synchros vs. 2-piece synchros.

depends on the cost of labor and parts...and the replacement transmisison you put in.

I believe 03 is compatible with 04, but in 04.5 they changed things somewhat.

 

Which year started with the 3-piece synchros?
