Had my Transgo shift kit installed today

$300 and what a difference! Just leaving it in D and getting on it I could feel the difference! I can't wait to try it in the manual mode!

The shop said it wasn't bad, lots of bolts, about 4 hours and they used 7 3/4 qts of the 8 qts of fluid.

This is the way it should have come from the factory but then I am sure people would have complained it shifted too hard and being a "luxury" car Infiniti wanted that vice "sporty" shifts.

Very interesting, I'd like to hear a full review including initial costs.

The kit itself is about $250 in the US of A. But $300 for install is a steal. I've read closer to $500. I need to know the normal driving characteristics. If it's too harsh for normal driving, I won't want it.

I did a google search for the Transgo kit for our car, RE5R05A-HD2 and started calling the vendors that advertsied them, the cheapest place I found was for $252 from www.txchange.com. I bought 8qts of the S matic tranny fluid from my local Nissan dealer for $8 a qt=$64. I had called Transgo and spoke with one of their reps about how hard the install would be as I had installed 3-4 of their kits on 96+ mustang gt's and was comfortable with them but after receiving the directions and seeing all the bolts that had to removed and envisioning me doing this on my back in my garage I shopped around local shops and went with a shop that I have had other stuff done.

Driving it normal I don't know that it's there; I got on it 1-2 times and that's when I could feel it.

So for $616 it is done and over with. It was expensive but half of the cost was in labor for the install. If I had a lift or access to one I would have done it myself but I didn't.

I will post my thoughts after driving it some more.

Don't put yourself out if it's inconvenient.

I just did the transgo kit in my 07 350z .. posted up a huge DIY on the 350z forum

once I hit 10 posts it will be over here

here is the link for now

Transgo DIY

(click link)

the kit is awesome .. under 3K rpm it feels normal, maybe tad faster shift but not noticeable to passenger .. over 3K hold on, kicks you in the seat spins / barks tires sometimes at WOT feels really good compared to stock

put a smile on my face
