Not chatter on low rev but gear noise

Gear noise upon entering 2nd gear and 3rd gear. I can clearly hear the sound of the gears going in. Is it the noise from the transmission? When I am at a stop and slipping into 1st gear, i hear a loud club, sometimes softer, sometimes louder sometimes not at all. Any ideas on why this is happening? Is it normal or is it time for me to get this transmission fix. I have no more warrenty, the car is at 64k miles and it has been almost 4 years since i bought the car. Clutch is out i think, but i dont believe that its the cause of these noise. Any idea?

I have this problem as well. When going into second or third sometimes, I can hear the gears. It's not grinding, but it does not feel like a smooth shift. I'm starting to think it's normal, though.
