PROBLEM: when pressing in clutch ABOVE 4k RPM I get a low pitched whine (close to a honking sound) and a slight vibration in the clutch pedal. There is no whine if in neutral and clutch is out or when winding up RPM's in gear. Anyone have any ideas? I have JWT clutch & flywheel combo but had 1500 trouble free miles before this noise popped up.

The noise is very audible when in the car with windows up and very difficult to hear when listening from outside the vehicle.

WHAT I HAVE TRIED: Since the noise happened only with clutch, my first guess was the throwout bearing. So, last night we pulled out tranny, clutch, flywheel (after removing exhaust, driveshaft, etc.!). We inspected every component and found no obvious defects. Since we had it out, we replaced throw out bearing anyway. We re-installed everything (throwing in a Rogue shifter while we were at it!). The sound is STILL THERE!

Any of you have any ideas on what to check next or the cause of this whine?

bump. i'd like to hear some feedback from other owners on this. i have a stock '04 and i noticed this too. i just bought the car about an hour ago and now i doubt i'll be sleeping until i know what's up with the noise.

 

well when i push my clutch in i get a winding sound. i can ony here it when im at a stop. dose any know what that could be...? my car is stock
