I have 04 G35 Auto and I get the same transmission jerk/slip. Took it to one dealership and when service advisor was driving it, the car did it again. That dealer returned the car after looking into it and said it is normal. I do not buy it. Called the infiniti consumer 800 # and as per their advise I have dropped to the other dealer. Will let you know about the outcome. It is not normal and I can not take it !!!

omg i had the same thing happen to me today, it happened between 50-70km/h but the wierd part i noticed is that it DOES have a drop in RPMs right after the jerk and it happens when i drive slow or at a constant speed. I hate this, before i was getting ****ty milage when i was driving with my heavy foot, now im trying to change my driving habits and this happens! :O Its driving me crazy, anyone have a solution to this, its a pretty old thread...
P.s. I gota 04.5 Sedan.

not here.

The only thing I get, which has been from my day 1, is sometimes I get a slight delay when first putting it on D as your taking off after having backed up. Thats it.

I get nearly the same problem. When the car is shifting from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd it ocassionally shudders like a slipping clutch. I'll be replacing the tranny fluid very soon and I'll update the status of my car. If I put my foot down (around 70% throttle) it never does it. Usually around 20-30% throttle is where I experience the shudder. I've never experienced the 45mph shudder either.

*sigh* The issue makes me worry about running the car down the 1/4mile, or even strapping it to a dyno, in fear that the tranny will grenade

I noticed my transmission would slip or chuggle at 1500 to 1600 RPMs between 37 and 42MPH. I have a new 2008 G35--I noticed the problem in the first few hundred miles of driving. I brought it into the dealer and Infiniti reported to them that this has been a problem. Infiniti recommended replacing the torque converter valve assembly. The part is being sent tonight--I hope it works.

It seems this tranny hiccup problem only happens on older G's (03~04) from all the replies. I have the same problem and mine's an 04 5AT. My 0.02 is that for most of the cars out there, the tranny are designed to go into economy mode after a short while on a steady speed. Same to our G, I think this explains the "jerk" that occurs at around 45~50m/h (70~80k/h). My Dodge mini van does the same thing too at around the same speed but way much smoother than G. The only thing I can notice when TC lock-up kicks in in my van is lower rev with lower huming from the engine, whereas I actually feel my G kicks back with lower rev.

In my opinion I think this is a design problem when Infiniti builds this modal

My slip is from 2nd to 3rd under light acceleration.

I'll be replacing my tranny fluid with the amsoil fluid here very over the weekend so I'll keep everyone tuned in.

Ok.. I have a problem. Sadly I realized one of 2 things.. Neither my clutch is slippin or my transmission is all jacked up..This is what happens when i drive! I go in gear..start driving.. lets say i'm around 3-3.5k rpm..i would accelerate and the rpm's would jump up to about 5k as if i was in neutral...then jump back down to about 3k and then it would start to pick up..any suggestions?

diggiing up an old post here but i've got the same problem. when the vehicle is under ~20% throttle in 3rd+ gear @ around 2500 RPM the RPMS will shoot up (even until redline). When i floor the gas, all is well. It will bang through the gears with no problem. Only when the car is under light throttle. makes for really annoying highway driving. my 03 sedan has approximately 98k miles on it (extended warranty just expired, figures). I just had a tranny flush performed by the dealer and if anything this made it worse. Has anyone at least pin pointed where the issue lies? does the tranny need to be replaced? is it the torque converter? i just want to get an idea of how much $$ i'm looking at.

If it does need a new tranny... how much am i looking at if i have the dealer do the work?
