Clutch Noises

Hey,
My 04 6MT coupe has been making some rubbing and grinding noises lately. It started in late november. Originally it started out just being when I first started up the car and had the clutch pressed. After a few seconds the rubbing and grinding sounds would stop. I live in Alabama, just recently I took the car up to missouri when they had snow and it was quite cold. Up there the noises got much worse. It started grinding when i changed gears and not quitting after i let the car warm up. It got better once I came down to Alabama again but it still worse than before. It still grinds a little when I change gears but if I shift very slowly it wont do this. It also still makes the rubbing and grinding sounds when i just press in the clutch even if it is in neutral. Any ideas?
I have had one person tell me throwout bearing. Could it be something to do with the fluid in the cold weather? Suggestions?

im not an expert but I know from personal experience that changing out fluid can significantly improve the grinding from gear shifting, especially when cold. I have had 2 cars now that I changed out the fluid around 36k miles and it was night and day difference. believe i used motul on last time not sure though. As far as a grinding sound/rubbing sound with clutch pushed in, im clueless. that doesnt sound good.

When was last time changed gear fluid?

I just got the car 2 months ago so I have never changed the transmission fluid. The car has 65000 miles on it so there is a good chance that it needs to be changed. Any one else have any advice on the rubbing and grinding noises that I hear when i press the clutch in? the noises are quite loud and obnoxious.

Typically speaking a TOB will make noise when the clutch pedal is released an it will go away when the pedal is depressed because this loads the assembly. I have actually heard this noise on my own car once or twice over the last week (when it has been colder than normal here in Birmingham, AL). Yes, you read that right...I am in Alabame too. Where exactly are you located? Perhaps I could take a listen to your car and try to help you figure it out. Let me know. Thanks,

I live in Auburn but I work in Montgomery. I may be able to take a trip up to birmingham one day for you to take a look at it.

Give me a call and we can talk a bit more about specifics of the sound and when and how it occurs. We could also try to work out meeting up. Thanks,
