VLSD or Open Diff

Im going to buy a 3.5 diff that is supposed to be VLSD. Its coming out of a 06 350Z 6spd with 26k miles. The 6spd only came with the 3.5. But base model 6spd diffs were open not vlsd.

How can I tell by looking at the outside if its open or VLSD? Is there a number I should look for?

I did a search and to answer my own question, there is no way from looking at a diff can u tell if its vlsd or not. The best way to is to look at the car it came from. If its a 350Z with cruise control, it has vlsd. other dead give aways are brembo brakes and aluminum pedals.

Spin the wheels on the car, or on the diff it self. If they spin the opposite way, then its OPEN. If they spin the same way its VLSD
