Lightbulb Time for a new Clutch

Ok my OEM clutch has lasted me quite a while now ( 82K Miles ) and its time to replace it due to it starting to slip

Might as well get a Aftermarket clutch and Flywheel now.

My question is that I want a clutch that can hold up with my future Vortech in the Spring

I want something close to that OEM feel but that can hold up with my future Vortech ( Around 400WHP ) any suggestions

I've searched and I'm between the JWT Clutch Combo and the Exedy ACT combo

Suggestions are appreciated

Those wont last long. The torque rating is at 80 degrees celcius or so but the temperature reaches much higher levels and torque rating falls with higher temperature.

You need something with a higher rating to have the same holding power as a lower rating clutch at regular temp.

I would go with this and a steel flywheel. http://www.zspeedperformance.com/03-...SK-1000DXD.htm http://www.zspeedperformance.com/350...eel-600215.htm

is 80k typical for the life of a stock clutch under normal useage? Damn, that sounds too short. Has anyone driven over 100k on the stock clutch without fail?

I think 80K + is pretty good for a OEM Clutch

Just wondering because I had an old 4th gen Maxima with about 80k when I sold it to my cousin over 5 years ago. He told me the car has almost 150k now and it's still on it's first clutch with no indication of slipping. It is possible if you're not a clutch driver. I guess I taught him well.

ACT street clutch kits are rated for 455ft/lbs and are probably the closest you're going to get to OEM feel. How reliable it will be at even 400ft/lbs daily driven is something I'm unsure of.

If you're trying to avoid buying a new clutch when you upgrade to a Vortech, I'd go with the spring-centered 6-puck but I personally don't like them for driving daily.

Might as well throw in a lightened flywheel while you're in there

Performance

Reliable

Inexpensive

Choose only two from those 3 and then look for your clutch

If you want performance and reliable your are going to be $900 minimum in my opinion. But if you have the cash flow I say go with proven results of ACT flywheel clutch combo or SPEC brand clutch.. I'm down to see some pics of the build!!!! This summer should be a good one for you (BOOST!!!!)

I'm in the same boat - just hit 68K (last 8K on the Vortech) and mine is on it's way out.

Not to jack your thread, but I'm looking for one that can hold about 400-425ish torque...
I am considering the Southbend Stage 3 - but not really sure yet though - still researching
