so i recently totalled my 04 twilight blue 6speed coupe... (hydroplained on the freeway)

I am getting the car back to pull out the untouched drivetrain and wiring harness and transplant it into my 77 Datsun 280Z. i was curious if any body had insight into this project or something similar.

I am very mechanically inclined and have done projects to both cars in the past.

the part i am foreign to is the wiring harness. what all do i need, where do i start, and how do i not set off airbags...

U gonna need to pull out the main engine harness and the one that is on the engine block as well.. Also, u gonna need to get the brains of it as well that I think one of them is over by the battery and the other sits behind the firewall on the driver side. I think I saw a diagram somewhere on here

 

are you parting out the rest of the car?

 

@bluedevil- Thx my 6 year old daughter was in the car with me and we both walked away without a scratch!

@eodg35- yes i will be parting out the things i don't need... i don't have the car back yet but when i start digging into the project i will post more on that.

@broke- do you know if the ecu and engine harness is separate from the misc. stuff? ie light, radio, air bags? or is it all kinda wound together?


also i realized after i posted this... a better spot for this thread would be in the electrical forum... if anybody knows how to move it please let me know.
