Angry Rear Diff Mount $1600?

Hello guys,
I took my car in because my brakes felt weird. I took it to Nissan since they are two blocks away from my house. The guy told me that my rear diff mount is cracked and that I have to replace the whole subframe thing because it's filled with oil. The estimate is 1600 bucks! I have to see if my bumper to bumper aftermarket warranty will cover it but if it doesn't... I am screwed. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

BTW he showed me what the HUGE part looks like because another G35 had the same problem. The part just arrived so he had it on hand. He said that I am the second one in two weeks but the other guy has 130K on his car. I have 68K : (

Ummm.....don't pay that please. I was quoted $2100 for the same issue. You can buy the mount bushing for $150 + $200-300 labor IF there actually is a necessary leak.

It's easy to just press in a new bushing...that shop is retarded or just thieves.

Infiniti told me the same thing when my car was in for the (free) oil change. They told me it was nothing to worry about.. yet.

Infiniti didnt' give me a repair quote though.

If you have the right tools, you can do it yourself for under $100

Tell both dealerships to fvck-off and have someone replace the bushing. I can't see how a little oil constitutes the rear sub frame being bad.

Thanks, I don't have many tools and my skills peaked at putting on spacers and swapping out my Z tube.

That part was about three feet tall of welded chassis looking alum.

I know which part it is, just buy an aftermarket bushing and throw it in. I'm sure there's many people in Socal that can help you install that.

The outer collar is welded into the subframe but the inner bushing is just pressed in.

I'm probably about to do this soon. I'm considering the poly bushings.

Infiniti does not know how to replace just the bushing, They also do not sell the bushing alone so thats why they want you to replace the whole subframe

Nissan took the time to explain that and show me the huge part that came in for another G35. If my Aftermarket warranty doesn't cover the repair, I will have to start hitting up some members that know how/where to do this.
