Clutch noise
Clutch noise
I've been all over this forum, and it seems like a lot of people have the same type of problem. Or at least somewhat as what I'm having. If there is already a thread discussing this, I apoligize. Just haven't cam across it yet.
A little history to maybe help describe the problem. Bought my 04 coupe 6mt in December of 2011. Two weeks later, the noise when I would press in the clutch when it was cold started. Sounds like from what I read its the throw out bearing. About a week later, the clutch took a crap. I barely got it to the mechanic. Who was very sheisty. The dealer I bought the car from (another sheisty individual) recommended his cousin's shop and said he would help pay. Long story short I got charged out the ***, but the noise stopped. About a year later the noise started up again. I had recently moved to Northern California from the SoCal desert so I figured the car just doesnt like the cold. It was the only time it would make the grinding noise.
The problem though, is a couple days ago I had to come to Northern Texas for some military training. About an 1800 mile trip. And somewhere along the way the grinding noise went from being only when the car wasn't warmed up, to being every time I press in the clutch. Aside from being embarassing at stop signs or backing out of parking spots, Im concerned something serious could happen before I make the trek back home and get it looked at. I can handle the noise for the two months, but does anyone know if it is something serious? Especially since it makes the grinding noise every time the clutch is pressed in? It feels like the car is running fine, except for maybe a little vibration in the gear stick when the grinding noise is happening. Every other thread people just seem to mention the noise at cold. Thanks for any help anyone has. I'm pretty worried about having a serious problem with another long drive home at the end of June.
