transmission swap

Hey guys I just purchased a 03 6mt g35 and I love it. When I purchased it I noticed grinds between 2,3,4 gears, and I thought I would take the chance with anyway since I thought it could be the throw out bearing. Unfortunately it wasn't. Upon researching I heard about the cd009 but minor alterations such as pivot ball and fork need replacement. I was able to find 6mt out of a 06 350z the guy at the junk yard says it won't fit and doesn't know if it is cd009 or anything like that. Will it fit without any alterations..If not what other options do I have without having to modify

I poked around a little and it looks like the tranny from an '03 and '04 350Z would work as a straight swap into your car, but the newer ones ('05 and '06) have some different things going on with the clutch and throwout bearing. I'm not sure if the input shaft is different or whatever on those newer versions and whether or not you can take the clutch assembly from your current tranny and just pop it into the replacement transmission to resolve the aforementioned incompatibility.

I wouldn't buy an '06 tranny in hopes of it fitting without doing a lot more research to make sure they are compatible.

Should be a straight swap with an exception to the shifter mechanism/bracket. You can't swap the early model mechanism onto the cd009 without drilling holes.

I ask because as I look at all data part numbers they are the exact same
03 g35: #32010CD009
06 350z: #32010CD009
I know z1 offers the unit but I have sourced a used one for 600 which is a lot better than 1600

If the shifter mechanism is the only issue I can work with that I just don't want to have revert to selling it or coughing up 2k for a unit installed if not more possibly

I just put a cd009 in my '04 G35 without any problems. The clutch is exactly the same as long as the engine is a VQ35DE.

Don't listen to them. The bolt pattern is the same, the clutch is the same, the slave cylinder is the same, and the output shaft for the driveshaft is the same. The only thing that is different between them is the shifter bracket. If you buy one make sure it comes with the shifter bracket.

So you didn't have to change pivot ball or anything? Just bolted right up?
