Noise from transmission in neutral.

Hey guys, I have a 2003 G35 6spd coupe with just under 90K miles on it. Every time the car is running in neutral there is this whining noise coming from the trans but when I put the clutch in the noise stops. I read in to it somewhat and I keep getting that it's my pilot bearing/bushing.
I just wanted to get some feedback and see if this has happened to anyone else and what could be that's causing it to make that noise?

Thanks!

It is most likely your pilot bearing. Transmission is disengaged when in neutral so it is not spinning and thus cannot produce any noise.
I don't know when was the last time you changed your clutch, but they should not go out before clutch does. Most of the time they last the life of the clutch. Unless it was not changed with the last clutch replacement.
They process is similar to changing the clutch. You have to pull the transmission out. Most of the cars have these bearing pressed into the fly wheel or the flange that fly wheel bolts up to.

Well I'm the second owner to this car so I'm assuming this is the OEM clutch and that it has never been replaced. But I've been planning to replace it with an ACT clutch kit. So when I do that I'll be replacing the pilot bearing as well.
What would be a cause for the pilot bearing to go out prematurely?
