Video - Asymptomatic Engine Whine
Recorded a video of the whine and put it on YouTube here ...

Don't think its related to power steering as tone doesn't change as I turn the wheel.

Seems to be most intense in neutral and can't really tell it's there in drive.

When I freshly start the car it isn't there, but when I drive it hard for a while, it will whine like the video.

Only has about 58,000 miles...

Any ideas?

It turns out it was the pressure release valve in the oil filter making the sound. Oil change and filter change solved the problem
