Why I won't be going to this dealership for my transmission service.

Me: How much will it cost to have my manual transmisssion fluid changed on my 05 G35 MT sedan?
Service "manager": I'll have to get your VIN and look it up.
Me: you really need my VIN?
Service "manager": Yes.
Me: fine ....
Service "manager": That will be $299.00.
Me: What??? are you sure? It's only like $30 of oil. What fluid do you use and how much is it?
Service "manager": We use 4 qts of Matic S
Me: Uh, I think that is automatic transmission fluid.
Service "manager": I can let you speak to the technician.
Me: OK. Um, this is a MT. Don't you use some sort of 75W85 oil? That's what the specs are?
Head tech: (in condescending voice): Well this is all new. they don't even make what the stuff your car came with anymore.
Me: Uh OK. By the way, that comes to like $250 for labor. How long does it take? Takes me about 30 minutes.
Head tech: We charge $130 per hour for labor plus shop charges and taxes. And it is an hour and a half of labor.
Me: Good luck with that. Have a nice day.

What planet do they get these people from? I asked the same question about my AT in '06 at the Stealership here in Santa Clarita getting the same quote...$300. Asking why they charged almost twice what Nissan charges I was told, "We use better fluids!" I asked the service manager if I had STUPID written on my forehead. Only time I ever when back was for recalls either going to Nissan or an independent mechanic for service. I honestly believe the employees at Nissan are better trained and the fact that they charge 30% less than Infiniti keeps me going back...Gary

I just wonder if they would have put ATF in my manual transmission. The guy I spoke to was supposedly the guy in charge of the shop!

They rotate service managers way too often.
