2004 G35 Differential

There’s a part that goes over the differential
part # 74510-AL500. This is a discontinued part and I was wondering if there are any aftermarket alternatives? My oem one is completely rusted out and actually broken. Any suggestions?

I see a few available on eBay, I'd go that route.

EDIT: Any time you have OEM stuff like that rust out when you install the replacement you should DEFINITELY coat it in something or it's just going to happen again. Get a bucket of undercarriage coating from your local parts house, bed liner coating, SOMETHING to keep the next one from doing it again.

Would you believe a guy at a local dealer told me I’d be fine without it. “Hence that’s why they discontinued it”

Technically there's a lot of those chassis braces under the vehicle that you don't NEED but they stiffen the frame and are a large part of the reason why the G35 handles so well.

That guy at the dealership is an idiot though if he thinks that's why Nissan no longer manufactures them though Most manufacturers stop making parts for a car once it's out of production. They need the machines to make parts for the current fleet.

It was just shocking for a parts manager to say such a thing. The part number is the same for the 350z, so it would fit ?

Yeah but it's a discontinued item. When Nissan makes a car they estimate a volume of each part that will be needed to cover warranty/repairs/collision/wear/maintenance for the expected service life of the vehicles. Once a chassis is ending it's production they will make a final run of production on parts just to cover the last few years of extended warranty but once those parts run out THAT'S IT.

That part is a discontinued item, there are no more available for sale as a NEW item. The last new car using that brace rolled off the assembly line over a decade ago.

Unfortunately there is a corrosion issue on all the the subframe brace/stay. From the ones I've seen it's the minimal flex on those parts causes the paint to crack right at the welds and then moisture rusts them out. Using a flexible sealant like a urethane based undercoating would prevent this from happening. The front stay has a TERRIBLE rust issue and probably needs replaced as well.

Fortunately there's a large supply of G35 in the scrap yards across America so we have a plentiful supply of used OEM parts both locally and on internet vendors like eBay.

As I’m searching eBay I see the same part number for 350z listings with better pricing. Thanks for all the info.
