-----lsd-----

I have an 04 Sedan auto and wanted to put in an LSD, and was wondering if it would be possible to put in a stock 6spd LSD in? Or if I cant find a 6spd g35 one if a 350Z lsd would fit? Thanks for any help.-Court

with all those post under your belt I would of thought u knew how to search.

The best soln would be to replace the whole pumpkin with either a 6mt 3.5 or a dr evo 3.9 final drive pumpkin (depending on how much u want to spend).

You can also swap in the 350Z auto 3.3 pumpkin with LSD. That way you won't loose use of your cruise control like you will with the 3.5 pumpkin swap.

The cruise control takes it's reading form the transmission output shaft. With the 3.5+ gears the speed vs. rotational RPM's changes therefore the ECU's programmed settings don't match and the system will not engage.

You already have 3.36 gears. The measureable gain in true acceleration with a 3.54 gear swap won't amount to much. However by seat of the pants, the car will feel a bit quicker, but just because it feels quicker, doesn't necessarily mean it is.

Thanks Dave, that kinda flushes the tiny thought of me converting to 3.3, not that I don't have other much high priorty mods that are underfunded as it is.

Why hasn't anyone thrown out the idea of putting a real LSD(Quaife...) in there?

Because generally when someone works as hard as he is to source a oem unit it comes down to one thing and one thing only,.............price. That and the general feeling that VLSD is better then open diff. Kinda ironic that I ended up paying $900 total for my oem VLSD conversion and I was quickly underwelmed by it within a few miles of the install. Lesson learned. I mean I could stand up and say no don't do that it's medicore at best, I dunno just think he's out to control his costs.
